As reported in my last blog Strathclyde University hosted the 16th International Law from the 6th to the 8th April.
42 teams from 15 countries brought 126 students together for the event.
Founder of the International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR) Professor Richard Calkins, declared the tourney “the best ever”.
I’m especially delighted that my university Middlesex won the best mediator team.
Meanwhile in Concord, California mediation has been agreed as the best way forward in a dispute between landlords in the city and their tenants who are seeking relief from steep increases in housing costs.
The success of a local law requiring Landlords to advice the city of rent increases has proven successful with mediation being the adopted approach where agreement cannot be achieved.
In some cases proposed increases have been reduced by over 60%.
